Then proceeds to see comment comparing it’s steering and cornering with a Camry. And I have this face...

Kinja'd!!!

It’s not the best handling car in the world, but I’ve driven last gen mustangs and camaros, Camrys and sonatas, even Altimas. But steering the same as a Camry? Dafuq?

I knew Hyundai was gonna kill it off. Hell half the time salesmen just sell it as sexy. You have to keep it at 3k-5k to have any real fun. V8 Mustangs are more fun, but that is hella obvious right? Hatchback truthers say why not get an ST? Is torque steer fun? Then silence. The BRZ was slow as hell, but fun to drive in a slow car fast kinda sense. But let’s not act like the Genesis coupe was awful and all these others were great, save for the top trim pony cars.

*RANT OVER*

Have a Z06 I saw in PCB for your time!

I’m working on a thinky piece over at Right Foot Down about the Genesis Coupe. It should’ve sold better than it did. It was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I actually agree with the comment (although it was a little heavy-handed, for entertainment purpose): The Genesis coupe could have been so much more. Even the R wasn’t as fun as a RWD, 300+ horsepower manual coupe should be.

Which is sad, because it looked amazing.

That red Vibe is awesome. I hope it’s a GT :)

It’s completely 2 different leagues of handling. Could it have been more? Of course. Is it as bad s described? Of course not. I enjoy taking corners at 80. In a Camry that bish wanted to pull a Firestone.

Ass out is always better. Torque steer is the equivalent of boosting your Zune when everyone on that iPod touch.

In all honesty I’d give the car a B+. It’s interior was much better than a mustang and Hyundai let the engine down with an awful in house transmission.

both are non optimal traits...I think its funny people like and enjoy oversteer when its just as adverse as torque steer is to putting down good lap times

I still have my second gen Zune for a backup when my iPod breaks. I’m on iPod number 3.

I’ve never driven one. Do you have the manual or auto? I understand the stick is rubbery and vague like an economy car and has no place in a sports car.

There’s an early Lime Rock Green (that’s the name, right? I remember C&D making a big deal out of the race track-themed colors years ago) example for sale at a local used car lot. Been meaning to go see about a test drive.

The stick is awful. Transmission mounts made it worse. I have an auto but drove the manual. The TCU holds it back too. Shifts too slow sometimes.

Sad to here the Gensis Coupe is going off to car heaven. I personally never would have bought bought one but nevertheless a fun to drive RWD car death is always a sad day.

If it’s the Bk1 it’ll be an okay experience. The second generation should have been the first. It’s a good car. Not great, but really good.

Well it’s the FP, they exaggerate everything. They compare visibility in my car to being in a box with tiny slits cut in just to let in enough light.

I miss my Gen Coupe. Stupid 17yo with a Minivan... curse you! I would compare it’s handling more with a V6 accord coupe, or in that vicinity. The gearbox was garbage, for sure, but was far better with the Stage 3 clutch I had in there— got rid of all the slop. Some negative camber in the front and evenly matched tires would do wonder for the steering and handling. They’ll be killer deals on the used market.

THIS.

There are so many cars out there that were built to be fun, so lets just enjoy them for being fun, even if they aren’t the best option in the segment.

Yeah, I think it’s hard to deliver a car that both enthusiasts and commuters will be happy with— and not kill themselves with. Sure it’d be a track monster with a good clutch, a ton of camber, firm steering, less weight, etc, but it would have been too brutal for your average driver, and most of them would have ended up flipped in a ditch like first gen Fieros...

On the plus side, the aftermarket is decent and the parts are great; and the I4 cars are extremely easy to work on. I’d say their one big failing was not scaling the car down slightly to hit 3K lbs instead of 3300...
